Created, produced, shot, wrote and edited “Here’s the Pitch!” Sold advertising for the 30 minute show. Utilized social networking to create an interactive show with viewers. Hosted the show, talking with professional athletes and their families.
Derek has an interesting background. He owes his life to the famous British actor Leslie Howard - literally. The story was made into a compelling documentary "The Mystery of Flight 777". Derek was on a plane from Portugal to England. He was asked to give up his seat for an important VIP - Leslie Howard. Just hours after the plane took off, it was shot down by German Luftwaffe Fighter Pilots. Everyone on board died. Derek later became an officer in the RAF.
His voice has been used for some of the top companies in the world: Walt Disney, Intel, McDonnell Douglas, Calloway Golf, Mercedes Benz, Warner Bros, Paramount/Star Trek, Bank Of America, Sirius, Nestle and many more.
You've probably already seen Derek in many hit TV shows: Star Trek, Murder She Wrote, TJ Hooker, Remington Steele, Hunter, and Dallas. He's also appeared in films alongside Oscar winner Jack Palance, Tom Skeritt, David Niven, Michelle Phillips, and Dirk Bogarde.

After a three-year deep undercover assignment in a major American city, he was assigned to a Special Operations Group (SOG), an off-site team that conducted special surveillances, short-term undercover operations, and provided support for sensitive wiretap investigations. The four years Riehl spent with the SOG are the basis for his television project Black Ops:FBI, which is currently in development in Hollywood.
His first novel, Quantico Rules, an FBI thriller from St. Martin’s Press, was released in hardcover in August, 2003, and paperback in June, 2004. His second St. Martin’s thriller, Sleeper, will be out in March, 2005. Quantico Rules has also been released by publishing houses in France and China, and was a July, 2004, selection of Le Grand Livre du Mois, the premier French book-of-the-month club in Paris.
Work on Riehl’s third FBI-thriller is already in progress. Continuing with FBI Agent Puller Monk - the critically-acclaimed protagonist introduced in Quantico Rules and further developed in Sleeper - the as-yet-untitled story is set in London, Beijing, and Washington, and is scheduled for release in 2006.
In addition to writing, Riehl serves as an on-air counterterrorism analyst for the Meredith Broadcasting Group, with CBS, NBC, FOX, and CNN affiliates across the United States.
Gene Riehl lives in La Jolla, California.
